Well, for me this is the biggest show of the year that I've been looking forward to attending, the MLR World Record Attempt at Castle Combe. I had paid at the end of January for my place in this and was so looking forward to seeing how many cars would actually turn up, as the forum wasn’t looking too enthusiastic towards the early months. Anyway, the months soon rolled round and the amount of members that had there names down on the forum were building every day, it was beginning to look like it would be an awesome day, definitely one to remember.

Saturday morning came and me and Holly were up at the crack of dawn to give the car a quick wipe down, fuel up and travel to meet our convoy point. We arrived a tad early, like an hour, so decided to grab a quick bite to eat in the services. It didn’t take long for more and more gleaming Evos to arrive and before long we set off.

It took about an hour to drive to the circuit and once we arrived we were quickly organised to park in specific parking according to the colour of our cars, me obviously in the silver section. To say there was a lot of Evos there was a tad of an understatement… there was hundreds!!! Silver, black, white, red, blue, grey, orange, yellow and so on. It took us ages to walk around all the cars, the whole place was full of both new and old Evos, an absolute dream come true! There was some truly amazing cars there that I hadn’t ever seen before, ranging from the early Evo I right up to the new Evo X.

We had a good walk round and watched a lot of track action, but at 4 o'clock, we headed back to the car ready for the world record attempt to start. The first of the cars to lead us on to the track was RC Developments orange and yellow Evo followed by everyone else in colour order. It took about 40 minutes to eventually get to the silver section, as there really was that many cars on the track and we were the last ones on. The record attempt started as soon as we had caught up with everyone else, who by now were half way round the other side of the track.

The rules were simple, travel no faster than 10mph and keep no more than two car lengths distance from the car in front, but with RC's cars only able to do a minimum of 40mph things didn’t go 100% according to plan, at times it was more like a track day than a record attempt. We did about 8-10 laps and were then called off the track, and were kindly informed to go park up where we had been an hour or so before.

After a great day, the MLR put on a disco at night, along with a bar, BBQ and live music, but unfortunately as we lived a good few hours drive from the track, we decided to call it a day and shoot home. All in all, it was by far the best day show for me this year, and I'm sure Holly will definitely agree with me on that. Great day, great weather, great atmosphere and a world record achieved! BRILLIANT!
