The week leading up to Modified Nationals was looking great, nice weather and everyone was in good spirit. A few of us had spent the week preparing and making a stand for Holly’s Civic Jordan, and a new DJ booth for Ed - to try and make him look a little more proffessional. We had some great ideas, but in the end we went for the graffiti look to match the new look of the site and banner.

The Friday of the show soon rolled round, but so did the bad weather. As per usual we were a little late to leave on the Friday, (only 2 hours this time) and no sooner than we had, it started raining.
By the time we had got to the show ground the rain had started to hold off, so we decided to get the marquee up and send the girls to find a camp space and pitch the tents.
We spent most of Friday night drinking and having a BBQ at the camp site - having a good laugh as always.

Saturday saw the first day of the show, and as ever SL were raring to get going. Most of us were up before 7am and were at the stand by 8am. Maitland did a great job arranging the stand as always, while me and a few others got everything else up and running . By around 10ish the stand was looking great, and I'm pleased to say that all the cars were looking fresh and clean! The weather held off over the Saturday and we all seemed to have a good day.
Again, Saturday night saw the SL lot have a good knees up with plenty of drink and a good BBQ. We then headed off to the dance tent and spent most of the night there, until we retired back to our beds, well if u can call tents beds!!!
Sunday morning and the noise of heavy rain awoke most of us very early, not a good sign! We again were all at the stand by around 8am and got everything going again. In true SL spirit, we tried not to let the rain get us down and spent most of the day with the BBQ in the marquee and looking around the exhibition centre. The day soon came to a close and the worst part was packing everything away in the rain, everyone was soaked through and gagging to get home for a shower. As always, we were one of the last to leave, which drew a close on Modified Nationals 08.

The overall show in my opinion wasn’t that great, mainly due to the bad weather, and didn’t seem to have the same feel as it did 2 years ago when it was at Rockingham. For me, there wasn’t enough there to keep me interested for a whole weekend, it seemed more suited for a single day show, so hopefully next year will see it bigger and better, with a bit more there to keep everyone interested.
Just like to thank everyone that came to the show and helped out over the weekend, especially all the new members and the likes of Scott that drove all the way from Wales to show with us, your all legends and we couldn’t do what we do without you all, so again on behalf of myself and the rest of the SL team, cheers.
