Date: Saturday 7th - Sunday 8th June 2008
Location: Santa Pod Raceway
Report Author: Dan Ward

The Vauxhall owners of SL were looking forward to this show as its well known for being one of Santa Pods better shows with an amazing turn out and plenty to look round.

The show started on the Saturday for a few of us as we headed over at lunch time with the intention of getting a few runs in down the strip. As we got there we could already see that the show would live up to expectations with lots of campers and Vauxhall porn littering the muddy and grassy fields of Pod.

Off we went to sign on and have a ganders at what was going down the strip - it seems the Vauxhall community has raised the bar this year with every other car down the strip running a C20LET or quicker! Next it was our turn - Me, Steve, Odders and Anton had a few runs on the sticky stuff and thoroughly enjoyed it! Personally I got trounced in all 4 runs, but it was to be expected in my little purple shitbox. Best times of the day were a 18.6 for myself (Corsa Sport), 12.8 for Steve (Corsa C20LET), 14.2 for Odders (Corsa C20 LET), and a 15.9 for Anton (Corsa GSI)!

Sunday morning we met bright and early and headed on over to the Pod once again, except this time the queues were huge and it took a good hour or so to get in and park up! Although anyone who has been to the Pod will know that this is the normal procedure.

Steve's Corsa C20LET was on the Autoglym stand all day and so got treated to about 6 layers of the new HD wax and hours of polishing from the demonstrators. I don't think I have ever seen such a clean and shiney car! Odder's Corsa C20LET was meant to be on the LMF stand but unfortunately had a hiccup on the way in (clutch cable) and didn't quite make it.

The show itself was immense, blazing sunshine all day long and a wicked layer of burn to go with it, any seconds in the shade were appreciated. The show was massive and there was plenty to look at, by the time you had got to the bottom of the club stands you were standing in the next county! The strip was awesome to watch during the day with Team Vauxhall qualifying for TOTB, some of the runs were very quick with a notable Tigra turbo, a drag spec VX220, and plenty of other quick contenders. The crowds were entertained all day with Mike Brewer on the mic and BTCC's Tom Onslow-Cole making an appearance.

To sum the show up I'd say it is one of my favourite shows I have ever been to, perfect weather, so much to see and the standard of cars was very high. We are definitely looking forward to PVS 2009!
